Reykjavik, Iceland — February 8, 2023 – Human cyber risk and awareness company AwareGO was named IT Company of the Year for 2022 at UTmessan, Iceland’s flagship information technology fair. President of Iceland Guðni Th. Jóhannesson presided over the ceremony, and AwareGO co-founder Ragnar Sigurðsson accepted the award on behalf of the company.
UTmessan is one of the largest annual IT events in Iceland and is co-organized in a collaboration between Ský (The Icelandic Computer Society), The University of Iceland, and Reykjavik University. The two-day event showcases the latest innovations by Icelandic organizations and researchers, attracting thousands of conference attendees and expo guests. Along with local thought leaders, this year’s program featured keynote speakers and presenters from global tech giants such as IBM and Amazon Web Services.
The Information Technology Awards are presented in four categories, with nominees and winners selected by a jury. The IT Company of the Year award is given to an Icelandic company with notable achievements over the past year. This is the second year AwareGO has been nominated in the same category and its first time winning an award at this prestigious event.
Foremost among AwareGO’s notable feats in 2022 was the successful launch of its Human Risk Assessment. This novel solution makes it easier for organizations to evaluate the cyber-risk profile of their workplace, identify vulnerabilities in key threat areas, and take action where improvements are needed in employee security training.
It is truly an honor to be recognized by our peers in the Icelandic IT community. This award is a testament to what can be achieved with excellent collaboration, and our Human Risk Assessment tool is a great example of that. It was a joint effort of cybersecurity experts, behavioral scientists, and interaction designers.
Ragnar Sigurdsson, AwareGO’s co-founder and Head of R&D
Besides unveiling the Human Risk Assessment last year, AwareGO earned a Telly Award for its short, witty security awareness videos and upgraded its platform with MS Teams integration. Furthermore, the company announced a new service, the Employee Cybersecurity Risk Audit, a comprehensive workplace cyber-risk analysis and consultation by AwareGO experts.
